<image:caption>We meet for group activities on the first Tuesday of each month 10am-1pm.* At 10:00am, we meet as an entire co-op at Holly Hill Methodist Church. We start with a few announcements and give everyone a chance to greet each other. Shortly after, parents will assist their children as they divide out into groups, by age, and go through three different activities (with about 40 minutes dedicated for each activity). At 12:30pm, all parents and children come together for lunch and the co-op wraps up at 1:00pm. To discover more of what your child(ren) will experience during a typical meeting, check out the activities listed for their age group: Babies and toddlers, preschoolers, elementary kids, and middle schoolers. Meetings for Fall Semester 2024 will be September 3rd, October 1st, November 5th and December 3rd. Meetings for Spring Semester 2025 will be February 4th, March 4th, April 2nd, and May 6th. *Group meetings are not held in January, June, July, or August.</image:caption>

<image:caption>This group is for children who were/will be less than 4 years old as of September 1st of the co-op’s “school year.” The following program components will be explored for this age group at the monthly meetings held on the first Tuesday: Montessori-ISH Babies and toddlers will engage in Montessori inspired activities (the Montessori method of education involves children's natural interests and activities rather than formal teaching methods), as well as sensory bins/projects, and imaginative play. During this time, leaders and present parents will be encouraged to “invite” their children to engage in age-appropriate activities designed to encourage development on multiple levels. Story Time & Snack Babies and toddlers will break for snack and will be read engaging stories to help them learn the sounds of language, new words, and the social element of communication. We know a baby is never too young to grab ahold of the listening skills and memory retention that reading to them provides. Music & Movement Babies and toddlers will shake shakers, twirl ribbon rings, throw scarves in the air… all while learning classic childhood songs. This class will help improve balance, coordination and rhythm through dance and movement activities. Recess No child is too young for recess here. Held outside, this time for babies and toddlers features activities like crawling through tunnels, balancing on beams, jumping over ropes and more. Those that can walk will have plenty of opportunities to play games that have them throwing and rolling balls, running to catch flying bubbles, and learning how to “follow the leader.” Sensory bins, chalk, and sliding down slides…children will breathe the fresh air and play!</image:caption>

For the 2024-2025 ‘school-year,’ we will be going through 8 of Aesop’s most famous fables. <image:title>Homeschool Club - Homeschool Club</image:title>
<image:caption>A partnership with the Holly Hill Library. Co-op families can meet up at the Holly Hill Library September thru November and February thru May on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of those months. During this program, families will be able to participate in activities like interactive play for babies, story time for preschoolers, and a game club for elementary children and teens. Once your activities are over, families can spend time looking for some great books to take home. While Homeschool Club is open to all homeschool families in the community, priority will be given to those families officially registered for the “school-year” when/if necessary. <image:title>Program Overview - Overview</image:title>
<image:caption>A faith-based co-op for whole families to connect. The cooperative program of Root & Arrow consists of 3 main elements: Planned Events - There are six main events that are pre-planned at the beginning of the “school-year.” Those include a Back to School Playdate, field trip to Bee City Zoo in Cottageville, nature walk at Santee State Park, A Wheel Party, Strawberry Picking, and a Teddy Bears Picnic. The majority of the events are outdoors and local-ish to the Holly Hill area. Short Programs - In partnership with the Holly Hill library, co-op families may have the opportunity to sign up for focused programs that are usually a maximum of 4 weeks. For example, a story time series focusing on early literacy, a few weeks of learning to play strategy games like chess, a Lego-based book club, etc. These programs will generally be in partnership with the Holly Hill Library and located on their premises. Pop-Up Events - Throughout the “school-year,” co-op families can expect to be invited to a number of group activities that are usually theme based and available on a first come first serve basis. Examples of previous pop-ups include a field trip to the local quarry, a creation-based dinosaur expo, a kickball pick up game, and a trip to the ballet in Columbia. The difference between pop-ups and planned events, is generally that they may not be on the available calendar at the start of the year; hence the term “pop up.”</image:caption>
